Area guide 04
Spring
Historic Old Town charm with the convenience of the I-45 corridor
Spring is an unincorporated area about 20 miles north of downtown Houston along I-45, split between Harris and Montgomery counties. It mixes a historic railroad-town core in Old Town Spring with the huge residential and employment base that grew up around the freeway.
At a glance
Schools
Spring sits at the meeting point of five districts: Spring ISD is the primary one, with Klein ISD, Conroe ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, and Tomball ISD also serving addresses in the area. School zoning here depends heavily on location, so we confirm the feeder pattern before you fall in love with a house.
Commute
I-45 puts downtown Houston about 30 to 45 minutes away in normal traffic, one of the easier commutes on this list. The ExxonMobil campus and other major employers along the corridor mean many residents work minutes from home.
Lifestyle
Old Town Spring is a historic shopping village with more than 150 shops, cafes, and festivals year-round. Mercer Arboretum and the Spring Creek Greenway, more than 40 miles of connected urban forest, give the area a genuinely green heart.
